The Coraline movie for 2009, like the novel, follows a a young girl who unlocks a mysterious door in her family's new home. The door leads to a creepy, and somewhat scary fantasy world, leading Coraline into an adventure in a parallel reality. She could stay there forever, if she wants to.
Here is a sneak peak of animated Coraline released early in production:
In the parallel fantasy world of the movie, Coraline begins to enjoy it more than the real world, with its alluring features. She also meets up with some interesting characters, including her alternative reality parents who want to keep her as their own child, and a sarcastic and humorous Miss Forcible and Miss Spink. Ultimately, Coraline must learn to rely on her own determination, and bravery to get back home and help her real life family.
